Wedding Invitations

Invitations are the first impression that your guests will get of how your big day is going to be. Your wording style indicates to your guests whether it is going to be a formal occasion or not. When ordering your invitations please make sure that your order emough for any spelling mistakes or any extras you may invite if other guests are unable to attend. I normally suggest at least five extra or 10% of your order.

Both day and evening invitations should be sent out at least three months before the wedding to enable all RSVP's to be returned no later than four weeks before the wedding, giving people 6-8 weeks to reply. Depending on the date of your wedding you need to give consideration to people being on holiday, etc.

Both the day and evening invitations can be made in three different sizes.

These are:

  • A6 - 105mm x 150mm
  • DL - 100mm x 210mm
  • Square - 148mm x 210mm

Other sizes are available however this would mean an additional cost as non-standard envelope sizes are more expensive.

Evening invitations can also be made as a board rather than a card to compliment the day invitations. These would be slightly cheaper than a card and would still include an envelope. Anyone interested in this can contact me and I can show you different ways in which the could be done to compliment the day invitation.

Order of Service

This tends to be for a church service, however, a lot of people having a civil ceremony are using these as an itinerary or Order of the Day giving details of how the day will proceed. You need to discuss with the priest, etc. the order in which your service will be done and any hymns, readings or poems will be sang or read. Any copyright which needs to be obtained for this will be the responsibility of the bride and groom. No responsibility will be taken by I Do Wedding Stationery for this under any circumstances.

Your final guest numbers will need to be confirmed by no later than four weeks prior to your wedding day and a proof will need to be signed off prior to printing your stationery.

Menu

Menus are a lovely compliment to the rest of your stationery. I would suggest that each Bride should check with their venue to see if they supply menus for the table, or if you would prefer to have complimenting menus that is fine also.

Menus can be used either alongside the centrepiece for the table or just have them standing as a card on the table. Depending on how many guests are on each indicates how many menus to have. I would recommend at least one and possibly two if there are more than eight guests per table.

Menus as with Order of Service come as an A5 card (A4 folded into half) and have an insert. Normally the menu details fit onto one side of the paper insert, however, we can discuss finer details on an individual basis. A budget range of menus are available on a board style card and samples are available to view. Prices are reflected in the different ranges.

Place Cards

These are used for every guest and can be decorated to compliment the invitations. They are placed on the table to let your guests know where they are to sit. A seating plan can also be used to compliment the place cards (see seating plan for more details). Guests sometimes like to keep these as a memory of your day.

The prices quoted on the price lists are for the place card and small decoration only. Calligraphy is available at an extra charge and prices can be discussed depending on the amount needed. Please ask for further details.

Save The Date

Save the date cards are available in A6 size (quarter of A4). These can be designed to compliment the Wedding Invitations that will be sent out months later. The cards are a very good way of letting people know well in advance of the actual wedding date and when you will be getting married. I recommend bride and grooms sending these, especially if you are getting married over a busy holiday period, ie. summer holidays, Christmas, etc. Normally these are sent up to one year prior to the wedding date and can give guests dates to avoid when booking holidays for the next year. This is particularly important for the close friends and family you really want at the wedding.

Seating Plan

A seating plan is a lovely compliment to the place cards and allows your guests to be able to see the layout of the room and the position of the tables in relation to the top table. Each guests name will be located on one of the tables and hopefully allows a smooth entrance into the room where you are eating as it stops people having to look at each table to see where there name is.

The seating plan comes in two sizes, however, most brides prefer A1 size. Each of the tables are on a separate card mounted onto the main board. On each of the cards the table numbers are at the top and listed below are the names of the guests. Each of the cards are decorated complimenting the wedding invitations and designs can be discussed on an individual basis. Prices are available on request and are reflected in the design and detail of the seating plan. A sample is available to view.

Thank You Cards

After your special day is over and you've opened all of your gifts most brides start writing out thank you cards to send out. These can have a message printed into the insert of the cards or it can be left blank for your own message. The thank you cards all come complete with envelopes.

A budget range is also available to compliment the style and design of the wedding invitation. These also come complete with envelopes.

Thank you cards can be ordered as part of your wedding stationery or after the wedding and are normally sent to your guests 2-4 weeks after the wedding.

Reply Cards

These are small cards, normally board style (don't open) that are usually sent out with your wedding invitations to enable your guests to reply quickly. There are a number of different ways to make the reply cards depending on the needs of the bride and groom, and these can be discussed on an individual basis.

Reply cards are normally sent with formal invitations, however, if you have a tight budget these are not as important to send out as most of your guests are quite happy to buy an acceptance card or even ring you to confirm they will be able to attend.
